Exhibition of Colombian Alumni at the Institute for Water Education IHE Delft

 

Delft (may 27/17) For the 60th year, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education decided to display the successful work of some of their alumni and their efforts to improve people’s lives in relation to water in their communities through the “Alumni in Action” exhibition.

The Embassy of Colombia to the Netherlands congratulates the three Colombian alumni selected by the Institute: Martha Deyanira Gonzalez, Andrea Silva Restrepo and Diego Restrepo Zambrano.

Martha Deyanira González is a leader in Sustainable Development and expert in legal environmental issues. She completed a Master in Environmental Sciences with specialization in Environmental Planning and Management at IHE Delft. Currently, she works as an environment and climate change risk manager in Chapinero (Bogotá). Martha also contributes to ensure access to safe drinking water to the Choco department inhabitants in Colombia through the “Cue Baido,” start-up, which focus on harvesting rainwater.

Andrea Silva Restrepo completed a Master in Environmental Sciences with specialization in Environmental Planning and Management at IHE Delft. Currently, she works at the Ministry for Environment and Sustainable Development in Colombia advising other members of her team. Andrea also works in the forest and lands protection in Colombia in order to allow citizens to continue using the land for farming and leisure. 

Diego Restrepo Zambrano completed a Master in Water Sciences and Engineering with a specialization in Flood Risk Management at IHE Delft. Using these skills, he is helping farmers and people living in floodplain areas in Colombia. Currently, Diego works as a hydro informatics specialist at Nippon Koei LACINAR by leading, organising and developing water related projects.
