2017 Meeting of Colombian students in the Netherlands


La Haya (jun. 15/17). On 15 June 2017, the 2017 Colombian student meeting organized by Embassy of Colombia to the Netherlands was held at the Institute for Water Education (IHE) in Delft, event in which more than 150 students from the most recognized regions and institutions of Higher Education in the Netherlands registered to this event.

During the meeting, the representative of the Institute for Water Education (IHE), Ruth Weber, gave an introductory speech followed by the welcoming speech by Ambassador Juan José Quintana. In the Ambassador’s speech, he introduced the other staff members of the Embassy, who presented as well their task in the different areas that the Embassy address in Education, Culture, Commercial Affairs, Tourism, Environment and the representation of the country before the different multilateral bodies based in The Hague, such as the International Criminal Court, International Court of Justice, OPCW, among others.

Furthermore, the Consul General of Colombia in Amsterdam, Fabio Emel Pedraza Pérez, presented the consular services in relation to the Registry, Notary, administrative service, assistance to Colombians, and integration with the Colombian community, among others.

Subsequently, two presentations were held, one by Nancy Alexaki from the Dutch Organization for the Internationalization of Higer Education (NUFFIC), and the other by Margarita Lourido from the Association of Colombian Professionals in the Netherlands. The students also had the opportunity for questions and answers session, followed by a reception, in which they had the chance to exchange information and establish connections with other Colombian professionals.
