On the “Book and Spanish Day” celebration, the Cervantes Institute organized on 19 April 2018 a literary day in the city of Utrecht. The Embassy of Colombia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands participated with a donation made by Ambassador Juan José Quintana with Colombian literature of renown writers to the José Jiménez Lozano library at the institute, which is open to the public.

The day began with the opening of the Ambassador of Spain, Fernando Arias, followed by the Ambassador of Colombia, who read excerpts from “El Quijote” book by Miguel de Cervantes. Afterwards, they moved to the library to hold the official delivery ceremony of the books, in which the Ambassador of Spain expressed his gratitude and outlined the important role of Colombia both in literature and in the Spanish language. The director of the Institute, Pilar Tena, also gave a gratitude speech and classified this donation as an act that will give rise to a special section in the library for Latin America.

During the ceremony, the Ambassadors of Cuba and Ecuador were present, as well as officials of the Embassy of Colombia and of the Institute.
