El Embajador de Colombia en Países Bajos, Fernando Grillo, recibió la visita oficial de Daniel Ascúntar Ríos, exalumno del IHE-Delft, y Asesor del DAGMA, Departamento Administrativo de Gestión del Medio Ambiente, (Alcaldía de Cali) y de Arlex Sánchez Torres, Profesor Titular de Drenaje y Alcantarillado Urbano, del IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, el centro internacional de educación sobre el agua para graduados más grande del mundo.

Durante la reunión, Ascúntar comentó los avances del DAGMA en varios proyectos de gestión del medio ambiente, sostenibilidad del ecosistema y los recursos hídricos en el Municipio de Santiago de Cali. En particular resaltó la iniciativa del Parque Ambiental Corazón de Pance, un espacio de conservación ambiental, que sirve como ‘escudo protector’ para las reservas de agua que contiene el acuífero de Cali, así como lugar de integración social y de conexión con la naturaleza.

El Parque Ambiental Corazón de Pance tiene como misión fundamental convertirse en un espacio de recreación y educación en torno al agua y su conservación involucrando a todos los estratos sociales de Cali. Puede consultar más detalles de este proyecto aquí.

La reunión concluyó con el compromiso de abrir espacios de trabajo conjunto para dar a conocer este proyecto en los Países Bajos, y fortalecer los vínculos de investigación entre el DAGMA y el IHE Delft.

The Ambassador of Colombia in the Netherlands, Fernando Grillo, received the official visit of Mr. Daniel Ascúntar, former student of IHE-Delft, and Advisor to DAGMA, Administrative Department of Environmental Management, (Mayor's Office of Cali) and Dr. Arlex Sánchez, Full Professor of Urban Drainage and Sewerage, from the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, the largest international graduate water education centre in the world.

During the meeting, Mr. Ascúntar explained the progress made by DAGMA in several environmental management projects, sustainability of the ecosystem, and water resources in the Municipality of Santiago de Cali. In particular, he highlighted the Corazón de Pance Environmental Park initiative, an environmental conservation space that serves as a 'protective shield' for the water reserves contained in the Cali aquifer, as well as a place of social integration and connection with nature.

The Corazón de Pance Environmental Park's fundamental mission is to become a space for recreation and education around water and its conservation. You can find more details about this project here.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to open spaces for joint work to promote this project in the Netherlands and to strengthen research partnerships between DAGMA and IHE Delft.
