We support the internationalization of Colombian literature.

The call for proposals for Reading Colombia 2025 is now open: a co-financing program aimed at supporting the translation and publication of Colombian literary works into foreign languages.

The program seeks to foster new narratives about Colombia through its literature, strengthen the independent publishing sector, and promote the sustainability and diversity of the cultural and creative economy.

Who can apply?

Foreign for-profit publishing houses, legally established, that are interested in translating and/or publishing works by Colombian authors.

What is the benefit?

Up to COP $20,000,000 per project. A total of up to 15 grants will be awarded during 2025.

What types of works are eligible?

Fiction (short stories, novels, chronicles), nonfiction (biographies, history, essays, letters), poetry, and children’s and young adult literature.

Eligible titles must have been previously published by Colombian publishers.

Main requirements:

• A signed rights agreement between the foreign publisher and the Colombian publisher or rights holder.
• A foreign publisher may submit up to two titles, but only one can be selected for funding.
• A single title may receive support from up to two different foreign publishers.
• Selected publishers must send copies of the book to the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Knowledge, as well as to the relevant Colombian embassy.

The 2025 call is open from May 8 to October 31, 2025.
