TU/e and ICETEX, signed an agreement to arrive ten Colombian Ph.D. students at TU/e's Department of Electrical Engineering. In addition, the parties intend to offer a second group of ten Colombian Ph.D. students the opportunity to come to Eindhoven. At the signing, TU/e professor Idelfonso Tafur Monroy received the National Order of Merit in the Grade of Knight, presented by the Ambassador of Colombia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Fernando Grillo.

The program has been made possible through TU/e professor of terahertz photonic systems, Colombian Idelfonso Tafur Monroy, who received the National Order of Merit in the Grade of Knight presented by the Ambassador of Colombia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Fernando Grillo. Professor Tafur Monroy received this recognition for being an outstanding figure in scientific research and projects that promote innovation in photonics and telecommunications, an example for young Colombians, and for generating opportunities and progress for his country of birth.
