The Embassy of Colombia in the Netherlands presented screening the Colombian Film “Del amor y otros demonios”
The Hague (Sep 02/21). Within the framework of the Plan to Promote Colombia Abroad, the Colombian Embassy in the Netherlands organized, with the Hispanic Association of The Hague, the screening of the film Del amor y otros demonios for the Spanish-speaking community in The Hague.
During the event, the participants had the opportunity to get closer to the Colombian literature and cinema, emphasizing the magical realism of García Márquez, as well as learning about the cultural diversity that characterizes Colombia, by using spanish as a foreign language.
The film, directed by Hilda Hidalgo and based on the homonymous novel by Gabriel García Márquez, Colombian Literature Nobel (1982), takes place at the time of the inquisition and slavery in the city of Cartagena, narrates the love story between Sierva María, daughter of a marquis, who was bitten by a dog with rabies, and Cayetano, ward of the bishop of the city, who was entrusted with the mission of exorcising her.
The Plan to Promote Colombia Abroad is a tool of cultural diplomacy from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, which seeks to support the achievement of the foreign policy goals of the Colombian State.
