The Ambassador Fernando Grillo meet with PhD Student León Sosapanta Sala

The Hague 20.08.2021. Ambassador Fernando Grillo meet with Ph.D. Student León Sosapanta Salas to talk about his research in Astrophysics and welcome him to the Netherlands.

León David Sosapanta Salas, is a Colombian born in a small town El Tambo-Nariño. He completed two bachelor’s honor degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physical Engineering and a Master of Science in Physics at the National University of Colombia in Medellin.

He will join professor Sera Markoff’s group as a Ph.D. student at the University of Amsterdam in September. His research will focus on theoretical modeling of black hole accretion to better understand the astrophysical sources of the Event Horizon Telescope, which is an international collaboration capturing images of black holes using a virtual Earth-sized telescope.
