The Embassy of Colombia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands screened the film Jinetes del Paraiso and presented the art exhibition UNIBIRDS at Leiden University
The Hague (Aug 25/21). Within the framework of the Plan for the Promotion of Colombia Abroad, the Colombian Embassy in the Netherlands, in coordination with the Leiden University, organized the talk and screening of the film Jinetes del Paraíso.
During the event, Ambassador Fernando Antonio Grillo Rubiano, talked about the importance of the biological and cultural diversity of Colombia. Likewise, he shared with the 50 students his experience as a diplomat abroad and Ambassador of Colombia, the activities and functions carried out by the Embassy, the bilateral and multilateral relations develop by the Embassy in the Netherlands, among other topics. Additionally, the Ambassador attended to all the students' questions.
Jinetes del Paraíso is a film directed and produced by Talía Osorio Cardona, which shows the natural region of La Orinoquia in the eastern plains of Colombia. Through the voice, songs, verses, and music of Orlando "El Cholo" Valderrama, a Grammy-winning Colombian peasant, this film allows the public to discover the nature and landscapes of this region, while also learning about the vibrant culture of his inhabitants.
Additionally, the Embassy presented the art exhibition Unibirds: The Universe of the Birds of Colombia by Colombian artists Sergio Mantilla and Miguel Chaparro, which uses analog (printing) and digital (mixed technique + AR) technologies to unveil the biodiversity of Colombia through its birds, allowing the public to know and interactively observe the colors, textures, details, and behavior of the birds that made Colombia their home.
The Plan to Promote Colombia Abroad is a tool of cultural diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, which seeks to support the achievement of the foreign policy goals of the Colombian State.
